Started his career as a published environmental research scientist (bibliography on LinkedIn), before changing career direction. Completed over two successful decades in a variety of sales, marketing and executive roles leading teams selling high value capital solutions to most major industry sectors in the UK and Internationally. This experience included working for both major US multinationals and start-ups, including being part of the management team of a UK company that completed a successful IPO on NASDAQ. Tony co-founded Cambium based on a desire to accelerate the deployment of technology based innovations to address global grand challenges.

John McEachen

Business development and engagement specialist

John McEachen

A chemical engineer who worked in energy management in the fine chemicals and consumer packaged goods industry before moving into business consulting specialising in customer engagement and business case development. He has added to his studies with a degree in psychology and has worked worldwide supporting senior level client engagement with companies such as Hewlett Packard, Symantec,  The National Trust and Computacenter.

Dr Mike Bonaventura

Executive Advisory Board

headed by Professor Mike Bonaventura, A chartered engineer and co-inventor of three US software patents in decision making systems. Mike has designed information system architectures in the environmental and financial markets, telco, and high tech manufacturing sectors for over twenty years.

A PhD in Cognitive Sciences and Mike’s previous roles include Chief Executive of the Crichton Carbon Centre (Post graduate teaching and applied research in sustainable development), Head of Finance & Performance Management Centre of Expertise for NCR Teradata and Vice President & General Manager of DecisionPoint Software, Europe. He has deep level knowledge of sustainability policy and goals at a global and national level. He combines this with his commercial experience in working with innovators in bringing their products and services to market.

Ian Brooks

Senior lecturer in Sustainable IT at the University of the West of England, Bristol and Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Bristol.

Ian also works as a consultant and been part of the Cambium team for over 4 years. Prior to this, Ian worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and IBM in a variety of business, IT and sustainability consulting roles with organisations such as DEFRA (UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), Open Energi, Jaguar Land Rover, electricity companies and the BBC.

Career experience includes Environmental Innovation network leadership, IT / data centre energy efficiency, energy management systems, carbon cost / benefit modeling, shareholder value analysis, and strategic cost management. Ian is currently carrying out doctoral research on the use of the UN Sustainable Development Goals as requirements in Software Engineering.

Jim Craig

A sustainability and marketing professional with a proven track record of developing and successfully bringing software products to market.

Jim has worked with a wide range of organisations both as a manager and consultant translating technical capabilities into real business value for companies such as IBM, Sun Microsystems and Thinkstep (formerly PE International). His experience spans working with start ups and globally established businesses and he is passionate about better use of data to address local and global sustainability challenges

Richard Lanyon – Hogg

Richard Lanyon-Hogg is a visiting professor and is an advisor to the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre Factory 2050, ( His focus is the sustainable acceleration of the 4th Industrial Revolution into the UK High Value Manufacturing sector, providing technical leadership in the areas of Enterprise Architecture, Strategy and Infrastructure Innovation; leading in bringing together the engineering disciplines of OT and IT.

As IBM’s executive UK Technical Director he represented the UK IT industry on the coalition Government’s Green Economy Council and working with Defra launched several public papers on the ‘Sustainability of the IT Enterprise’; he remains an IBM emeritus Distinguished Engineer. Richard has won several awards for his work on Autonomic Computing and Sustainable IT, including a BCS Gold Medal and the European Green IT Award. He is also a patent holder on wireless technologies, a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of both the Institute of Engineering Technology and British Computer Society; Richard is also an Open Group Distinguished Architect. In 2013 Richard was listed by TimeWise in the London Financial Times as being one of the top 50 most powerful part time executives across the UK.

Anya Ledwith

Anya Ledwith

A Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) with 20 years of leadership in the field of carbon and environmental management. Experienced auditor and implementer of ISO standards with a particular focus on environmental legislation, energy, water, transport, waste, pollution control, carbon emissions and climate change.

Also experienced in executive and staff engagement, Anya has worked with a range of sectors, from micros to multinationals, including in finance, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, IT, education, legal, government, transport, retail, health & service industry. Through these engagements she has been successful in helping clients embed these standards into their core business activities to deliver not only compliance but operational and commercial benefits.

Emily Vosper

Emily Vosper

Graduating with a first in Mathematics from University of Warwick in 2014 Emily provides data analyst services for both Cambium and Exeter University. Her main passions include caring for and learning about the environment, specifically the ocean. As a keen surfer her goal is to make a positive difference in the challenge against marine pollution

David Robertson

David was an executive at BP for 10 years during a 30-year career which included Technology Vice President, Conversion. Following BP he has held senior roles as COO at Hydrodec Group, an clean and sustainable re-refining oil company and was Senior Vice President and COO at Ze-gen Inc., a Boston based start-up developing Liquid Metal Gasification technology to repurpose high energy content waste destined for landfills into syngas.

His current roles include Chair of a biotech spin-out from Strathclyde University and Technical Advisor to the CEO of a leading plasma gasification company.
David is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, a Charted Engineer, has a BSc from Strathclyde University in Scotland and completed an Executive Education programme at Harvard Business School.

Hazel Jeffery

Hazel has focused on partnership building in the water and environmental research sectors over the last 5 years. She is adept at engaging with research, policy and business sectors to identify challenging and innovative areas for joint working. Before this, Hazel headed up Strategic Management in the Natural Environment Research Council, where she integrated business planning, strategy, evaluation and the impact of research and led on the Spending Review bids. Her background is in environmental chemistry, with an early career in Brussels in European research funding.

Hazel enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures with her family and exploring the beautiful Devon coastline. One day we will finish the South-West Coast path! Hazel also puts her skills to good use in chairing the local Parish Council.
