impacts

This change directly impacts  Registered Participants within the CRC Scheme.

We estimate that this additional tax will create additional energy related costs of around 10 % for all these organisations.  This improves the business case of any new energy efficient innovation in every year it is deployed.

All Registered Participants in the Scheme will now incur additional energy management costs ranging from £50,000 to upwards of £15 million per annum from April 2012, depending on their energy consumption.  This cost is separate and additional to the rising costs of energy.

Despite these increased costs there is a clear Window of Opportunity before the new allowance payments come into effect, for Suppliers of energy efficient innovations to benefit from these changes.
